Policy Adviser at Eurogas

Tim Cayford is Policy Adviser for the European Gas Research Group (GERG) and for Eurogas. He is manager of the Working Group dealing with the Renewable Energy Directive, Energy Efficiency Directive, and Energy Performance Building Directive. His advising focuses on the future role of gas in a sustainable energy system. His doctorate studies provide expertise in the relevance of gas in a smart energy system, as well as the functionality of gaseous energy not only as a partner to renewable energy, but as a part of renewable energy.

Moreover, his work on community energy systems equips him with some understanding of the future potential in the emergence of bottom-up energy systems, which need to be coordinated with the current networks and businesses that supply our energy needs today, in such a way as to ensure reliability, affordability, and sustainability.

Tim is also a manager of the joint Smart Gas Grid Task Force (Eurogas, GERG, Marcogaz). As an independent adviser, he also advises and works with energy related technology companies and other associations.
