After graduating from the Middle East Technical University Ankara, got his master degree from Uppsala University, Sweden with the study on Energy Cooperation and Security in the Caspian. In 2013 by conducting research on World Gas Markets and the Economic Aspects of Turco-Russian Energy Relations, he was awarded PhD of Economics from MGIMO-Moscow International Institute of Energy Policies. Dr Volkan Özdemir has work experience in Turkish Prime Ministry Undersecreteriat for Foreign Trade, Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and BOTAŞ (Turkish Pipeline Corporation). In addition to professional experience in energy sector; he is an expert on Russian, Caspian, Turkish energy markets and geopolitics. He has numerous publications as well as presentations on energy issue areas in different languages and he is now leading the Ankara based Eppen Institute.
