Ukraine has already joined the European family. The bond between Europe and Ukraine today is stronger than ever. Economic, political and social transformations in Europe directly affect Ukraine, while those in Ukraine immediately resonate in Europe.
And, since energy industry is a crucial part of the infrastructure and social maintenance in all European countries, including Ukraine, there should be a common European Energy Security Strategy in place to facilitate gradual energy transition and provide a barrier to any disruptions through an increased energy security.
The idea to start The International Forum on Energy Security for the Future came from an understanding that only through ongoing dialogue and seeing beyond our differences can we secure the future we wish for. The Forum provides an open platform for leading policy makers, key market players and recognized experts from all over the world to address key energy challenges and seek efficient solutions. We are proud that over the course of just two years, it became Europe’s largest non-governmental international energy initiative advocating for energy security and advancing clean and reliable energy sources.
By all means, we would not be where we are today without constant support from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Aleksander Kwasniewski Foundation Amicus Europae that share our beliefs and values and remain truly committed to initiatives that encourage strategic thinking and effective decision making. As Ukraine’s leading private gas producer, Burisma Group is deeply invested in ensuring energy security and sustainability, as well as promoting innovation and inclusion.
At the same time, there is still a long way to go. We need to facilitate a smooth transition to renewable energy sources and ensure energy self-reliance. To make this happen, it is fundamental to have both authorities and business moving in the same direction. The International Forum on Energy Security calls for continued close cooperation between all stakeholders to foster Europe’s energy independence.
