“A false sense of security is the only kind there is” - noted futurologist Michael Meade.

Energy Security is not always the first issue on the minds of news editors; but it is critically important. The uncertainties of today’s world make the relevance of such discussions beyond dispute.

This Forum, entitled “Energy Security for the Future – New Sources, Responsibility, Sustainability” has broken new ground. It represents a genuine opportunity for energy experts from many different backgrounds to discuss openly the many challenges as well as opportunities the energy industry is facing; from geopolitics to funding to technology.

Environmental and sustainability questions were high on the agenda, reflecting the venue for the inaugural Forum. Monaco, through the work of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II Foundation, holds an integral position in considering the importance of sustainability of energy as well as deep-seated concerns for the global environment and for Climate Change. The speakers and panel members reflected the areas of greatest concern, especially from a European context, but with careful regard for the United States as well.
